Descrição geral

Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) is an isotonic standard buffer solution. PBS imitates the pH, ion concentrations, and osmolarity of the human body. It serves as an ideal buffer for maintaining the osmolarity and physiological pH for biomedical dilutions in cell culture and protein chemistry. PBS is used for standard enzymatic tests with active metal-organic framework (MOF) biocomposites. PBS is considered non-toxic to cells.

Aplicação

Phosphate buffered saline has been used:
  • for washing bacterial cells after harvesting by centrifugation
  • for washing the peritoneal cavity for isolation of peritoneal macrophages
  • as a control and to dilute phytohemagglutinin (PHA) to prepare subcutaneous injections and study the immune response in birds.

Conspicuous displays are thought to have evolved as signals of individual "quality", though precisely what they encode remains a focus of debate. While high quality signals may be produced by high quality individuals due to "good genes" or favourable early-life

Mucosal immunization is advantageous over other routes of antigen delivery because it can induce both mucosal and systemic immune responses. Our goal was to develop a mucosal delivery vehicle based on bacteria generally regarded as safe, such as Lactobacillus spp.

The performance of an implantable glucose sensor is strongly dependent on the ability of their outer membrane to govern the diffusion of the various participating species. In this contribution, using a series of layer-by-layer (LBL) assembled outer membranes, the role
