The gene MURC (muscle-related coiled-coil protein) is mapped to human chromosome 9q31. It is an evolutionarily conserved protein. The protein is present in the cytoplasm and Z-line of the sarcomere.

Anti-MURC antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . MURC (muscle-related coiled-coil protein) is suggested to regulate RhoA (ras homolog family member A)/ROCK (rho-associated protein kinase) signaling pathway. It is involved in cardiac contractile dysfunction and atrioventricular conduction disturbances, resulting in increased risk to atrial arrhythmias. It is suggested to be linked with human cardiomyopathies.
