Ações bioquímicas/fisiológicas

Receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase F is an enzyme encoded by the PTPRF gene in humans. It localizes to adherens junctions and may be involved in the regulation of epithelial cell-cell contacts, peptide growth factor signaling and the canonical Wnt pathway. PTPRF induction occurs by cell-cell contact during cell proliferation that activates ERK-dependent proliferation signaling to prevent cell hyperproliferation and tumor initiation. It acts as a crucial regulator of the sensitivity of two key insulin signalling pathways to insulin. PTPRF regulates cell proliferation, response to growth factors and cellular adhesion. Mutation in the gene is associated with breast cancer.
