Description générale

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a retinal phospholipid, which carries long-chain highly unsaturated fatty acyl groups.

Application

14:0 PS may be used as an internal standard for spiking serum lipid samples for liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy analysis and as a component in the phospholipid monolayer to mimic model cancer cell membrane for the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOx) interaction studies. It has been used in lipid binding assay to assess the binding of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs).

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Phosphatidylserine (PS) helps to activate protein kinase C (PKC). It may possess anti-inflammatory properties. PS is also known to participate in tyrosine hydroxylase activation. It is also involved in the uptake of Ca2+ and glucose.
