General description

D-(+)-Glucose, a major product of photosynthesis, is a monosaccharide, which is a primary source of energy in the form of ATP for living organisms. It is the main component of starch (as stored energy) and cellulose (constituent of cell walls) found in the plants.

Application

D-(+)-Glucose can be used:
  • In the investigation of glucose sensor performance.
  • As an initiator in Butlerov reaction.
  • In the preparation of an acid catalyst, which is used in the alkylation of phenols.
