General description

Monoclonal Anti-Ral-A (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma RalA5F9.2 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells (NS1 cells) and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide. Ras-related protein Ral-A is a member of the Ras-like guanosine-5′-triphosphate (GTP) binding protein family. Ral-A protein is expressed in the islets of the pancreas, insulin-secreting cell lines and tissues during embryogenesis. The RALA gene is located on the human chromosome at 7p14.1.

Specificity

Monoclonal Anti-Ral-A recognizes human, monkey, rat and mouse Ral-A, ~25 kDa.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino-acids 189-203 of human Ral-A, conjugated to KLH.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-RAL-A antibody produced in mouse may be used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • immunocytochemistry
  • enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

Ras-related protein Ral-A can bind guanosine triphosphate (GTP) or guanosine diphosphate (GDP). It is known to possess a low intrinsic GTPase activity. Ral-A protein is involved in regulating the insulin secretion of pancreatic β-cells. This protein is also involved in membrane trafficking, oncogenic transformation and proliferation.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

For extended storage, freeze at –20 °C in working aliquots. For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in "frost-free" freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
