Gene Information

human ... GLG1(2734)

General description

Golgi apparatus protein 1 (UniProt: Q92896; also known as CFR-1, Cysteine-rich fibroblast growth factor receptor, E-selectin ligand 1, ESL-1, Golgi sialoglycoprotein MG-160) is encoded by the GLG1 (also known as CFR1, ESL1, MG160) gene (Gene ID: 2734) in human. The Golgi apparatus plays a major role in transport, processing, and sorting of thousands of macromolecules in eukaryotic cells. It is readily recognizable because of its stacked membrane-coated cavities known as dictyosomes. The Golgi complex consists of a stack of flattened, membrane-bound sacs known as cisternae, with three functional regions: the cis face, medial region and trans face and each of these regions contain various enzymes to selectively modify the macromolecules that pass through this complex. The Golgi complex is localized in the vicinity of the nucleus and is usually very large in secretory cells, where it fills most of the cytoplasm. Clone 371-4 selectively recognizes the Golgi complex in human cells. It produces a diffuse staining pattern of the Golgi zone in normal and malignant cells.

Specificity

Clone 371-4 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects Golgi apparatus.

Immunogen

SU-DHL-1 human large cell lymphoma cells.

Application

Evaluated by Immunocytochemistry in HeLa cells.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody detected Golgi apparatus protein 1 in HeLa cells.

Tested Application

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody detected Golgi apparatus protein 1 in A431cells.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A representative lot detected Golgi Zone in Immunocytochemistry applications (Endo, Y., et al. (2007). Cancer Sci.;98(10):1633-7; Strehlow, A.N., et al. (2007).
