General description

Half FRASER (Demi FRASER) broth has high nutrient content and the large buffer capacity that creates optimum growth conditions for Listeria. Lithium chloride, nalidixic acid, and acriflavine hydrochloride largely inhibit the growth of accompanying bacteria. Esculin and ammonium iron (III) citrate enables the detection of the β-D-glucosidase activity by the formation of a black complex of esculetin with iron (III) ions. However, this reaction is not exclusive to Listeria sp. and hence every primary and secondary enrichment in FRASER broth has to be sub-cultured on selective plating media.

Application

Half FRASER (Demi FRASER) broth with supplements is used for the primary selective enrichment of Listeria sp. from food and animal feed as well as from environmental samples and other materials.

The different types of culture media, that are used to grow microorganisms in the laboratory for quality control, are classified by several criteria, such as consistency, composition, or selectivity.

Protocols

In recent years it has been recognized that Listeria is an important public health problem. The disease affects primarily people of advanced age, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
