General description

14:0 PEG5000 PE, also known as 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol)-5000], (DMPE-PEG5000) is a polyethylene glycol (PEG)-modified lipid. Insertion of PEG-lipid conjugates into lipid bilayers decreases the rate of protein binding on the complex surface and thus, aids in formation of stabilized liposomes.

Application

14:0 PEG5000 PE or 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol)-5000], (DMPE-PEG5000) has been used to modify 1,4-dihydropyridine amphiphile DHP-12 complexes with DNA. It has also been used in preparation of polyethylene glycol (PEG)-ylated liposomes (PL).
