General description

Phosphatidic acid (PA) is a diacyl-glycerophospholipid, with two fatty acids and a phosphate group that are covalently attached to a glycerol molecule through ester linkages. PA is rich in soy lecithin. PA is produced endogenously by the hydrolytic action of the enzyme phospholipase D. It is also produced through phosphorylation of diacyl glycerol (DAG) by diacylglycerol kinases (DGKs).

Application

Soy PA is suitable for use in validation of PA probe.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidic acid (PA) is present in biomembranes. It is the precursor for other phospholipids and acts as a signaling molecule. PA is implicated in NAPDH oxidase (NOX) activity.

It is commonly assumed that all phagosomes have identical molecular composition. This assumption has remained largely unchallenged due to a paucity of methods to distinguish individual phagosomes. We devised an assay that extends the utility of nitro blue tetrazolium for

Phosphatidylinositol (PI) 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) at the plasma membrane (PM) constitutively controls many cellular functions, and its hydrolysis via receptor stimulation governs cell signaling. The PI transfer protein Nir2 is essential for replenishing PM PIP2 following receptor-induced hydrolysis, but key mechanistic
