Beschreibung

Allgemeine Beschreibung

The gene OBSCN (obscurin) is mapped to human chromosome 1q42. It is mainly expressed in skeletal and cardiac muscle. The protein contains immunoglobulin (Ig)- or fibronectin-3-like domains, a calmodulin-binding IQ (calmodulin-binding) motif and a Rho (ras homolog) guanine nucleotide exchange factor domain.

Anwendung

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

OBSCN (obscurin) is important for myofibrillogenesis and hypertrophic growth. It is required for the stabilization of myofibrils and spatial positioning of contractile proteins. OBSCN is suggested to be a link between the sarcomere and the G-protein regulated pathways.
