General description

CD13 is a 150 kDa Type II integral membrane protein composed of 967 amino acids (Turni, 2002; Ashmun, 1995; Look, 1989). CD13 is identical in structure to aminopeptidase N, a membrane-bound zinc-binding metalloprotease (Turni, 2002). CD13 is expressed on the surface of committed granulocyte-monocyte progenitors (CFU-GM) and by cells of the granulocyte and monocyte lineages at all stages of differentiation (Turni, 2002; Ashmun, 1995; Look, 1989). The antigen is also expressed on a small proportion of large granular lymphocytes, but not on B or T cells (Ashmun, 1995; Look, 1989). Further, CD13 is expressed on some non-hematopoietic cells including fibroblasts, endothelial cells, epithelial cells from renal proximal tubules and intestinal brush border, bone marrow stromal cells, osteoclasts, and cells lining the bile duct canaliculi (Turni, 2002; Ashmun, 1995; Look, 1989).
Anti-CD13, WM-47, was included in the Fourth and Fifth International Workshop and Conference on Leucocyte Differentiation Antigens and studies by a number of laboratories confirmed its reactivity with CD 13 (Ashmun, 1995; Look, 1989).

Specificity

Antibody recognizes Human CD13 antigen.

Immunogen

Leukaemic cells from a case of chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML).

Application

Detect CD13 using this Milli-Mark Anti-CD13-FITC Antibody, clone WM-47 validated for use in FC.

Aminopeptidase N (CD13) is a widely expressed cell surface metallopeptidase involved in the migration of cancer and endothelial cells. Apart from our demonstration that CD13 modulates the efficacy of tumor necrosis factor-α-induced apoptosis in neutrophils, no other function for CD13
