General description

Triton X-45 is a non-ionic surfactant that has a low hydrophile–lypophile balance (HLB) value. It easily disperses in aqueous solution at room temperature. It is useful in bioseparation processes. Triton X-45 is compatible with anionic, cationic, and other nonionic surfactants and chemically stable in most acidic and alkaline solutions.

Application

Triton X-45 has been used along with tri-n-butyl phosphate (TnBP) in the treatment of human plasma for efficient inactivation of Hepatitis C virus before transfusion.
