General description

Anti-YAP Antibody detects endogenous levels of total YAP protein.
Yes associated protein (YAP) is a 65kDa proline-rich phosphoprotein. It is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 11q22.1. The encoded protein is characterized with a WW domain, a PDZ interaction motif, an SH3 binding motif and a coiled-coil domain.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human YAP.

Immunogen Range: 93-142

Biochem/physiol Actions

Yes associated protein (YAP) serves as a potent mechanosensitive transcriptional activator. It plays a vital role in regulation of cancer, regeneration and organ size. Overexpression of the gene contributes to tumorigenesis in breast and liver cancers. In addition, it also promotes gallbladder cancer (GBC) cell growth via activating AXL receptor tyrosine kinase/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway. Thus, it acts as a potent biomarker and therapeutic target for various cancers including, GBC and breast cancer.
