Cell Line Origin

Owl Monkey Kidney

Cell Line Description

Derived from a normal female adult owl monkey. Sub-cultivation on over 100 occasions produced no evidence of latent infection. Used for propagation of non-human primate viruses, e.g., Herpesvirus aotus, Herpesvirus saimari and Herpesvirus ateles.

Culture Medium

EMEM (EBSS) (M2279) + 2 mM L-Glutamine (G7513) + 1% NEAA (M7145) + 10% FBS / FCS (F2442).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:8, i.e., seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin; 5% CO2; 37 °C.
