General description

N-18:1 L-Serine is a N-acyl amino acid. The amino acid and the fatty acid acyl moiety are covalently linked by amide bond.

Biochem/physiol Actions

N-acyl amino acids are signaling molecules and N-acyl-serine is an endogenous orphan lipid mediator. N-oleoyl serine mediates energy homeostasis and bone metabolism. It also participates in the mitogenic signaling in osteoblasts and is a novel antiosteoporotic drugs.
