General description

Magnesium sulfate monohydrate is a Lewis acid catalyst widely used in the field of organic synthesis, nanomaterial preparation, and fuel cells.

Application

Magnesium sulfate monohydrate can be used:
  • As a precursor to synthesize magnetic manganese ferrite nanoparticles by alkaline coprecipitation.
  • To fabricate manganese octahedral molecular sieve (OMS-2) catalysts for selective aerobic oxidation of aromatic and aliphatic thiols.
  • As a catalyst to synthesize benzo-2-pyrones and benzopyrazines.
  • As a precursor to synthesize manganese oxide nanoparticles for energy storage applications.

The investigation of cryogenic planetary environments as potential harbors for extant life and/or contemporary sites of organic synthesis represents an emerging focal point in planetary exploration. Next generation instruments need to be capable of unambiguously determining elemental and/or molecular stoichiometry
