Gene Information

human ... TBP(6908)

General description

Anti-TBP antibody detects endogenous levels of total TBP protein.
The TBP (TATA-binding protein) gene is mapped to human chromosome 6q27.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human TBP.

Immunogen Range: 151-200

Biochem/physiol Actions

The TBP (TATA-binding protein) gene encodes a subunit of TFIIIB (transcription factor IIIB) complex and recognizes the TATA box in the DNA. It thus, plays an important role in RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. TBP is known to induce stress granule formation in hepatitis B viral infection.

Emerging evidence points to an unexpected diversification of core promoter recognition complexes that serve as important regulators of cell-type specific gene transcription. Here, we report that the orphan TBP-associated factor TAF9B is selectively up-regulated upon in vitro motor neuron differentiation
