Cell Line Description

Derived from a 16 year old male. Positive for EBNA, carries EBV markers, complement receptors, surface bound immunoglobulin and surface markers for the Fc fragment of IgG. The cells should be handled under laboratory containment level 2. Ethnicity: Black.

Application

Tumourigenicity and Virus studies: EBV used to study leukemogenesis mechanisms.

Culture Medium

RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Maintain cultures between 2-9x100,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C. Will increase 12 fold within 10-14 days provided fresh medium is added at 48-72 hour intervals. Cell growth is slow on recovery from frozen. Resuscitate using 20% FBS and keep culture flask standing up until exponential growth is established.
