General description

Readybag® Half FRASER broth with supplements come in pre-weighed and gamma-irradiated to speed up and simplify food pathogen testing routines. This helps to eliminate all the media preparation steps from the workflow. The Readybag® single-use pouches remove the necessity of weighing, autoclaving, supplement handling, and extra lab space or equipment. It only requires the addition of sterile water before incubation.
The high nutrient content and the large buffer capacity of the Readybag® Half FRASER broth (with supplements) create optimum growth conditions for Listeria spp. Lithium chloride, nalidixic acid, and acriflavine hydrochloride inhibit the growth of accompanying bacteria. Esculin and ammonium iron (III) citrate forms a black complex of esculetin with iron (III) ions and facilitates the detection of β-D-glucosidase activity. But this reaction is not exclusive to Listeria spp. Hence, every primary and secondary enrichment in Fraser broth must be sub-cultured on selective plating media.

Application

Readybag® Half FRASER broth (with supplements) is suitable for the primary selective enrichment of Listeria spp. from food and animal feed, environmental samples, and other materials.
