General description

Benzoyl peroxide belongs to a family of peroxides. It consists of two benzoyl groups bridged by peroxide link.Benzoyl peroxide has low solubility in water and ethanol.

Application

Benzoyl peroxide can be used as:
  • An oxidizing agent in the synthesis of conducting polypyrrole via inverted emulsion polymerization.
  • An mild oxidizing agent and carboxylate source in the synthesis of substituted imides.
  • A radical initiator in the preparation of PCL/CNF:MX (poly(ε-caprolactone)/cellulose nanofibrils: compatibilizer) bio-nanocomposites.
Widely used initiator, curing agent, and cross-linking agent in polymerization processes.
