The FHL1 (Four and a half LIM domains 1) gene in humans is related to carcinogenesis and its inactivation is a frequent event during oral carcinogenesis. Mutation in the FHL1 gene is associated with various disorders that include reducing body myopathy (RBM), Emery-Dreifuss-like muscular dystrophy, isolated hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and some overlapping conditions.
