生化/生理作用

FSH(促卵泡激素)可参与卵巢卵泡的生长和卵巢的甾类生成。FSHR(促卵泡激素受体)可在卵巢中与FSH相互作用并确定对此激素的反应性。FSHR水平降低会引起不良反应并影响卵泡生成。在高加索人群中,FSHR基因的某些多态性会在多囊卵巢综合征(PCOS)患者中更为常见。在男性胎儿和新生儿中,它可促进支持细胞的增殖。在青春期男性体内,它可以刺激精原细胞进行有丝分裂。FSH与受体FSH- r结合后正向调节G蛋白偶联受体/环磷酸腺苷(cAMP)/蛋白激酶A通路,以级联细胞内信号。
α-链是不具有活性的;生物特异性是因为β-链。诱导卵巢格雷夫氏卵泡的成熟;促进男性生殖细胞的发育;激活胞质酪氨酸激酶。
