丙酮是一种酮。据报道，在700℃或650℃下煅烧的TiO₂ (P25) 与稀土氧化物（La₂O₃ or Y₂O₃）的混合物可有效地光催化丙酮的氧化。已有研究描述了在碱（Li，Na，K和Cs）或碱土（Ca，Sr和Ba）金属离子促进的MgO催化下，丙酮在气相中的醛醇缩合反应。在使用Mg-Al层状双氢氧化物（LDH）作为催化剂并使用Cl^- 和/或CO₃^2- 作为补偿阴离子时，丙酮可通过醇醛缩合反应，生成二丙酮醇和甲基异丁烯甲酮。已有研究描述了在二肽（催化剂）存在下，丙酮与各种靛红的对映选择性醇醛缩合。

應用

丙酮可用于以下研究：

• 生物样品（血液）中葡萄糖代谢的NMR光谱评估。
• 制备13wt％无定形聚乳酸（PLA）溶液，这是制备静电纺聚乳酸膜所必需的。
• 作为在磺化氧化石墨烯-Pd/堇青石催化剂存在下合成甲基异丁基酮（MIBK）的前体。
• 使用超临界流体（SCF）技术合成（4-羟甲基-2,2-二甲基-1,3-二氧环戊烷），一种甘油缩酮。
