囊泡GABA转运蛋白（unc-47）同源物是525个氨基酸长的蛋白，属于神经递质转运蛋白家族（1）。 VGAT在将GABA和甘氨酸摄取到突触囊泡中起作用。 由于蛋白与突触囊泡结合，因此VGAT抗体是突触前GABA能和甘氨酸能神经元的极佳标记。
特異性
对囊泡GABA转运蛋白（VGAT）具有特异性。囊泡GABA转运蛋白（unc-47）同源物是525个氨基酸长的蛋白，属于神经递质转运蛋白家族。 免疫原肽与其他已知蛋白质没有显著同源性。
抗体与各种物种的交叉反应性尚不清楚免疫原序列在小鼠、人和猴中100%保守。
