General description

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) belongs to the immunoglobulin family and is a widely expressed serum antibody. An immunoglobulin has two heavy chains and two light chains connected by disulfide bond. It is a glycoprotein and a major class of immunoglobulin. Rat has five immunoglobulin classes- IgM, IgG, IgA, IgD and IgGE. IgG is further divided as- IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b and IgG2c.

Specificity

This product was prepared from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography using Rat IgG coupled to agarose.  Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against Anti-Peroxidase, Anti-Goat Serum, Rat IgG, Rat IgG F(c) and Rat Serum. No reaction was observed against Rat IgG F(ab′)2.

Immunogen

Rat IgG F(c) fragment

Biochem/physiol Actions

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) mainly helps in immune defense. It participates in hypersensitivity type II and type III. IgG helps in opsonization, complement fixation and antibody dependent cell mediated cytotoxicity.
