Biochem/physiol Actions

Chorionic gonadotropin β subunit 3 (CGB3), also referred as human chorionic gonadotropin- β (HCG-β) is a specific and active subunit, secreted by the syncytiotrophoblast of the placenta. It plays a vital role in embryo implantation. In addition, it acts like an agonist of luteinizing hormone (LH), stimulating progesterone secretion by the corpus luteum. Elevated expression of CGB3 enhance tumor invasion and is also used to predict poor prognosis of early-stage colorectal cancer (CRC).
