Gene Information

General description

Fatty acid-binding protein-3 (FABP3) is a small cytoplasmic protein, which is a member of the multigene family of FA-binding proteins. It is widely expressed in the heart. This gene is mapped to human chromosome 1p35.
SRC family belongs to non-receptor tyrosine kinases. SRC was originally identified as a transforming protein of the Rous sarcoma virus (RSV) that had enzymatic ability to phosphorylate tyrosine in protein substrates. SRC is overexpressed and activated in a large number of human malignancies and has been linked to the development of cancer and progression to distant metastases. In addition to increasing cell proliferation, a key role of SRC in cancer seems to be the ability to promote invasion and motility, functions that might contribute to tumour progression

Application

Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

Fatty acid-binding protein-3 (FABP3) participates in cardiac metabolism. It plays an important role in the intracellular uptake of fatty acids and their migration towards the mitochondrial β-oxidation system.
