General description

Methaqualone is a sedative-hypnotic and a central nervous system depressant sold under the trade name Quaalude for treatment of insomnia. Methaqualone also has a history of abuse, known by street names such as Disco biscuits, Lemmons, and 714s. This internal standard is suitable for quantitation of methaqualone levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, clinical toxicology or forensic analysis.

Application

  • Methaqualone-D₇ as an internal standard in toxicology: Methaqualone-D₇ solution is employed as an internal standard in gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for the detection of substances in biological samples, exemplified by a study testing for kavain in human hair. This application underscores its value in forensic toxicology and drug metabolism studies (Villain et al., 2003).
