Application

Corn steep solids are an inexpensive nutritional supplement for a wide variety of industrial microbiological processes. For example, this material was used in production of cellulase from a fungal endophyte, as an adjunct to bioethanol production.
Corn steep solids are soluble and may be used as a nitrogen source in several medium and cell culture conditions. This can give rise to biomasses that are rich in proteins and poor in acidic polysaccharides
