General description

Cortisol-D4 (9,11,12, 12-D4) is the deuterated form of the glucocorticoid, cortisol. This stable labeled internal standard is suitable for quantitation of cortisol levels in whole blood by LC-MS/MS for newborn screening of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) and in serum or plasma by LC-MS/MS for determination of several diseases including Cushing’s syndrome, Addison’s disease, and Sheehan’s syndrome.

Application

This Certified Spiking Solution® is suitable for GC/MS and LC/MS applications from clinical and diagnostic testing and endocrinology to sports testing. The Certified Reference Material (CRM) in solution can also be used as an internal standard as follows:
  • Identification of cortisol by atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) and selected reaction monitoring (SRM) during the high-performance liquid chromatography- tandem mass spectrometric (HPLC-MS/MS) analysis of cortisol in human sweat samples
  • Combined determination of cortisol and cortisone in 48 serum samples by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
  • Development and validation of an LC-MS/MS method to determine five steroids― free cortisol, cortisone, tetrahydrocortisol, allo-tetrahydrocortisol, and tetrahydrocortisone in urine samples
  • Multi-residue analysis of cortisol, cortisone, and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) in 103 hair samples by liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
  • Rapid LC-MS/MS-based assay of cortisol in 2860 serum samples over a duration of one year, using a simple protein precipitation technique for sample preparation

Features and Benefits

  • Fully characterized under ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 accreditation
  • Accompanied with a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (CoA) with data on stability, homogeneity, accuracy of concentration, uncertainty, and traceability
  • Rigorously tested through real-time stability studies to ensure accuracy and shelf life
  • Gravimetrically prepared using qualified precision balances to ensure minimal uncertainty
  • Flame sealed under argon into ampoules for long-term shelf life
  • Offered in a convenient, DEA-exempt format to improve laboratory efficiency
