General description

Hydrogen hexachloroiridate(IV) hydrate is black crystalline solid that is soluble in water. It is a coordination complex of iridium in the +4 oxidation state. It widely used as a precursor to prepare Ir based catalysts for various electrochemical applications.

Application

Hydrogen hexachloroiridate(IV) hydrate can be used:
  • To fabricate dimensionally stable electrodes for oxygen evolution reaction. It allows for the controlled deposition of iridium oxide, which is crucial for achieving stable and efficient electrodes for the OER.
  • As a precursor to prepare electroplating solution to modify ultra flexible neural electrodes. It helps to achieve high charge storage capacity and working stability.
  • As a Ir source to prepare Ir nanodendrite water splitting catalyst with large surface area and high electrochemical porosity.

Features and Benefits

Catalyzes the electrochemical synthesis of polyaniline on the surface of non-noble metal electrodes. Utilized in the formation of iridium-substituted Dawson- and Keggin-type polyoxometallates by refilling the vacant site of the lacunary precursors.
