Application

Hydrocortisone USP reference standard suitable for use in specified USP compendial quality tests and assays.

Also used to prepare standard stock, standard, and system suitability solution for assay, identification, and performance test by liquid chromatography in accordance with the given below monographs of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) :
  • Hydrocortisone Sodium Succinate for Injection
  • Hydrocortisone Tablets
  • Hydrocortisone Gel
  • Hydrocortisone Lotion

Biochem/physiol Actions

Primary glucocorticoid secreted by the adrenal cortex. It has three times the anti-inflammatory potency of corticosterone but much lower Na2+ retention potency.
