General description

Capillary columns have three distinctive layers namely, fused silica tube, protective coating and stationary phase. Fused silica tubing refers to tubing with a protective coating. Fused silica is the most commonly used material for capillary column tubing as it is a synthetic, quartz like glass containing less than 1ppm of metallic oxide impurities.
Deactivated non-polar fused silica tubing can be used as transfer lines, guard columns, or retention gaps, or to make your own columns. It is ideal for use with injection solvents such as alkanes, carbon disulfide, and ethers.
