Biochem/physiol Actions

α-Methylnorepinephrine (αMNE) is an α2-adrenergic agonist and is useful in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during myocardial dysfunction especially in animals. αMNE improves water absorption in the jejunum and is blood-brain barrier impermeable.
α-Methylnorepinephrine is a sympathomimetic amine and vasoconstrictor. α-Methylnorepinephrine is used clinically in dentistry in local anesthetic solutions.
