General description

Manganese(II) chloride tetrahydrate is a manganese salt. Its toxicity has been evaluated in Swiss mice.

Application

Manganese(II) chloride tetrahydrate may be used in the synthesis of manganese(II) tris(2-benzimidazolylmethyl)amine (ntb) complexes and active manganese dioxide. It may be used as a catalyst for microwave assisted synthesis of substituted 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones.

A series of manganese(II) tris(2-benzimidazolylmethyl)amine (ntb) complexes were synthesized and characterized. In these complexes, ntb functions as a tripodal tetradentate ligand, resulting in trigonal pyramidal geometry. The complexes have five- to seven-coordinate manganese(II) ions depending on the additional ligand used.
