Gene Information

human ... ZFYVE26(23503)

General description

FYVE, also known as Zinc finger FYVE domain-containing protein 26, or FYVE domain-containing centrosomal protein (FYVE-CENT), or Spastizin, and encoded by the gene ZFYVE26/KIAA0321, is a phosphosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate-binding protein required for the abscission step in cytokinesis. FYVE is recruited to the midbody during cytokinesis and acts as a regulator of abscission. FYVE also be required for efficient homologous recombination DNA double-strand break repair. FYVE is cytoskeleton associated and localized in the cytoplasm in resting cells but at the centrosome during cell division. FYVE is expressed in all cells and tissues. Defects in FYVE may be associated with Spastic paraplegia 15, a form of spastic paraplegia, a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a slow, gradual, progressive weakness and spasticity of the lower limbs.

Immunogen

GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to human FYVE.

Application

Anti-FYVE Antibody, clone 7F11.1 detects level of FYVE & has been published & validated for use in FYVE.
