Gene Information

human ... EPHA7(2045)

General description

Ephrin type-A receptor 7 (EC 2.7.10.1; UniProt Q15375; also known as EHK-3, EK11, EPH homology kinase 3, EPH-like kinase 11, hEK11, Receptor protein-tyrosine kinase HEK11, Tyrosine-protein kinase receptor EHK-3) is encoded by the EPHA7 (also known as EHK3, HEK11) gene (Gene ID 2045) in human. EphA7 belongs to the ephrin receptor family of receptor tyrosine kinases that are activated upon ephrin binding. Ephrin receptor signaling plays important roles in embryonic development, tissue boundaries formation, angiogenesis, stem cell differentiation, and cancer. There exist nine type-A (EphA1-8 and EphA10) and five type-B (EphB1-4 and EphB6) ephrin receptors in human. EphA7 is initially produced with a signal peptide (a.a. 1-27) sequence, the removal of which yields the mature protein with a large extracellular (a.a. 28-555) region, followed by a transmembrane segment (a.a. 556-576) and a cytoplasmic region (a.a. 577-998) that contains the kinase domain (a.a. 633-894).

Specificity

Expected to react with all five spliced isoforms of human EphA7 reported by UniProt (Q15375).

Immunogen

Epitope: Extracellular domain.
GST-tagged recombinant extracellular N-terminal fragment of human EphA7.

Application

Anti-EphA7 Antibody, clone 2F3.1 is an antibody against EphA7 for use in Western Blotting.
