General description

MDMA is an illicit drug known by a variety of street names, including "Ecstasy," "E," "X," and "XTC". An analog of the phenethylamine and amphetamine classes, MDMA is abused for its euphoric and psychedelic effects. This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantitation of MDMA levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, or isotope dilution methods.

Application

  • Forensic toxicology advancement: (±)-MDMA-D₅ is crucial in the development of analytical methods such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) for the detection of nutmeg abuse, demonstrating its role as a reliable internal standard for forensic applications (Neukamm et al., 2020).

  • Substance abuse detection: Utilized in forensic science, MDMA-D₅ serves as a reference material in hair analysis to provide evidence of mephedrone chronic abuse, showcasing its significance in the precise quantification of illicit substances using GC/MS techniques (Martin et al., 2012).
