General description
Poly(glycerol succinate) (PGSu) is a biodegradable polymer synthesized from two bio-based monomers: glycerol and succinic acid. It is a new green hyperbranched polyester (HBPEs) with tunable mechanical properites, potentially useful in soft tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. The polymer backbone and crosslinks can undergo hydrolytic degradation due to the presence of ester linkages. The ester bonds in the polymer backbone covalently crosslink to form a three-dimensional (3D) network of random coils at higher temperature (>130 °C) under vacuum without using any toxic crosslinkers.
