General description

Nicotinic acid acts as an antilipolytic drug in adipose tissue, and is commonly used for hyperlipoproteinaemia and pellagra.
Nicotinic acid is a water soluble, vitamin belonging to B complex group of vitamins, which can be used as a broad spectrum lipid lowering drug. Its mode of action basically involves the inhibition of the hormone-sensitive triglyceride lipase and thereby, decreasing the lipolysis in adipose tissue.

Application

Nicotinic acid may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in tablet dosage forms using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography technique.
Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.
