General description

Diazepam is a benzodiazepine used to treat a number of symptoms from anxiety and panic attacks to insomnia. This stable-labeled internal standard is suited for quantitation of diazepam levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, or isotope dilution methods. Diazepam, a benzodiazpine frequently abused recreationally, is sold under the trade name Valium®.

Application

  • Diazepam-d₅ internal standard: Research on clomiphene in keratinous matrices utilized Diazepam-d₅ as an internal standard in LC-MS/MS analysis, demonstrating its essential role in ensuring precision and reliability in forensic toxicology (Kintz et al., 2023).

  • Stable isotope-labeled Diazepam: A forensic study highlighted the use of Diazepam-d₅ in confirming the presence of drugs in decomposed cadavers, showcasing its importance in providing corroborative evidence in cases of serial homicides (Ottaviano et al., 2021).

  • Diazepam-d₅ for analytical research: The postmortem analysis of benzodiazepines in human bone by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry employed Diazepam-d₅, demonstrating its effectiveness as a reference material for accurate drug quantification (Mancini et al., 2021).

  • Diazepam-d₅ in pharmacological studies: Method development for quantitative determination of statins highlighted the use of Diazepam-d₅ in tandem mass spectrometry, underlining its utility in adherence testing and therapeutic drug monitoring (Wagmann et al., 2020).

  • Diazepam-d₅ in receptor binding studies: An evaluation of benzodiazepines and zolpidem in nails and their stability in chlorinated water demonstrated Diazepam-d₅′s role as a robust analytical standard, critical for ensuring the integrity of pharmacological assays (Moretti et al., 2018).
