General description

TopFluor has a moiety, called dipyrromethene boron difluoride. This fluorescent molecule is covalently attached to various lipid molecules. Phosphoethanolamine is a precursor to phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine.

Application

TopFluor® PE may be used as a fluorescently labeled lipid to replace the head labeled lipid (TFPE-head) to study the fusion efficiency of liposomes. It has also been used in the preparation of liposome.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphoethanolamine participates in phospholipid metabolism. It has the ability to repress tumor growth both in vitro and in vivo.
