叶黄素是类胡萝卜素的氧化衍生物。它由氧原子组成。叶黄素是黄色颜料,主要存在于大多数绿色植物的叶片中。

應用

叶黄素已用于:
  • 定量鸟类体内循环叶黄素含量
  • 研究其对脂肪细胞对D因子D (Fd)合成的影响
  • 定量油菜叶中的类胡萝卜素。

生化/生理作用

叶黄素/叶黄素可辅助光收集色素。它也可作为单线态氧和叶绿素三线态的猝灭剂,对光氧化损伤具有保护作用。叶黄素参与光合作用。它具有抗氧化性能。
不含维生素A的膳食胡萝卜素。 增加眼内黄斑色素浓度,并有可能改善视力。
