PEP87, a highly conserved helical fragment of hemagglutinin HA2 subunit, is an inhibitor of H7 and H5 hemagglutinin (HA) mediated influenza virus entry. PEP87 binds to the hemagglutinin trimer where it disrupts native tertiary structure and prevents HA function.
