應用
莽草酸已被用作定量测定根部顶端部分莽草酸含量的标准品。它还被用作莽草酸激酶测定的底物。
生化／生理作用
给药后在大鼠模型中观察到莽草酸具有致癌性。它可用作微生物中芳香族氨基酸、生物碱和其他芳香族代谢物的生物合成的前体。现已确知莽草酸可以抑制二磷酸腺苷（ADP）诱导的兔血小板聚集和血液凝固。
