Reductive metabolism of the hair dye constituent, nitro-p-phenylenediamine (2-nitro-1,4-diaminobenzene, NPDA), and its acetylated metabolite, NPDA N4-acetate, was investigated with rat liver subcellular fractions, microsomes and cytosol.
