General description

Cullin 3 (CUL3) is a member of cullin protein family and is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 2q36.2. The encoded protein is a core component of cullin/RING E3 ubiquitin ligase (CRL) and is ubiquitously expressed. The protein is characterized with a cullin homology domain.
Monoclonal Anti-Cullin 3 (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma CUL3-9 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide of human Cullin 3.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Cullin 3 antibody produced in mouse has been used in western blotting and immunoprecipitation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cullin 3 (CUL3) acts as a scaffold protein and facilitates the organization of a large number of ubiquitin ligase complexes. It plays a vital role in the regulation of electrolyte homeostasis and blood pressure. The encoded protein acts as a key factor in protein ubiquitination and is also implicated in early embryonic development. One important role of CUL3 is to promote invasion and migration of trophoblast cells. Mutation in the gene leads to onset of pre-eclampsia and pseudohypoaldosteronism type II.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
