Application

Potassium citrate tribasic monohydrate has been used for preparing citrate-supplemented water for feeding the Car5A, Car5B, and DKO breeding pairs of mice. Citrate supplementation enhances the perinatal death in mice. It is a citrate-based salt used as a phase constituent for characterizing ionic-liquid-based aqueous biphasic systems (ABS) and as a buffering agent.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Potassium citrate tribasic monohydrate is the potassium salt of citric acid. It enhances the bone density hence used in the treatment of osteoporosis. Additionally, it neutralizes the protein-induced metabolic acidosis.
