General description
Method: Colorimetric, with test strips and reagent, 10 - 25 - 50 - 100 - 200 mg/L (Sn), MQuant®
The MQuant® Tin test includes test strips and all necessary reagents and can be used to test for tin and tin compounds in electroplating baths, reducing agents, stabilizers, catalysts, disinfectants, fungicides and mordants used in the textile industry and, more especially, in liquid foods. In the test, all tin ions are reduced to tin(II) ions. These react with toluene-3,4-dithiol to form a red dye. The tin concentration is measured semi-quantitatively by visual comparison of the reaction zone of the test strip with the fields of a color scale. The test strips are perfect for pre-testing a sample in an economic and quick way to estimate the tin concentration and a possible dilution factor prior to using a quantitative method such as a Spectroquant® Tin test.
